Canadian company with bases in Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico is growing fast with the addition of a new boat in October. We are hiring into the following positions; Director of Engineering (well suited for Captain or Engineer who is ready to be shoreside), marine engineer, mate, Captain, chef, dive masters and also mechanic, carpenter and welder. Working hours and Schedules
You can expect to work a minimum of 12 hours per day, seven days per week. The 12 hours may be divided into split shifts of varying lengths with breaks throughout the shift.
Contract Length
Contract length is normally between 4 – 6 weeks (depending on ship and position), followed by 4 – 6 weeks off the ship. There is some flexibility with longer contracts available. All crew are required to help with the annual refit which takes place every July.
Probationary Period
Your initial 90 days on board are considered a probationary period. At any time within this period, the Company can choose to terminate your employment agreement for sub-standard performance.
Training
We train, coach and encourage all crew to broaden their skill sets and abilities. Training subsidies are also available.
Compensation
We are proud to pay the highest wages in the dive boat industry. Our hard working crew are expected to excel in guest services and our gratuities reflect that.
Travel Expenses
Crew in senior positions will receive an annual travel allowance. Most Crew are responsible for their own transportation to and from the boat including Airfare, transfers, hotel if necessary, etc.
Passport
A passport, valid for at least one year is required when you join. If you are applying for a new passport, we suggest you obtain one valid for at least 5 years, to make things easier in the future. Obtaining the passport is at your own expense.
Seaman's Book
Depending on the ship and itinerary, you may need to apply for a Seaman's Book before you join, or when you are onboard the ship. We will advise you. This is at your own expense.
Accommodations
The large majority of crew share a cabin with one other crew member. Some utility positions need to share 3 & 4 bed cabins.. You must change sheets, make your bed, dust and clean the bathroom on a regular basis.
The Language Spoken On board
English is the official language onboard in all public areas and around guests even when conversing with fellow crew members who speak your native tongue.
Meals
Crew eat from the same menu guests do approximately 30 minutes after posted meal times.
Alcohol
It is important that the Employee understands and agrees to the Company Alcohol Policy and the consequences for violating the policy. The Company retains the option of terminating employment for cause without notice for any violations of the published alcohol policy.
Drugs
The Company has zero tolerance for the use of illegal drugs or the abuse of legal drugs or alcohol. Use of illegal substances will result in termination, and possibly arrest by the local authorities.
Smoking
Smoking is allowed only in designated areas aboard. Smoking in crew cabins is strictly prohibited! Non-compliance with this guideline may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Relationships
It is important that the Employee understands and agrees to the Company Relationship Policy and the consequences for violating the policy. The Company retains the option of terminating employment for cause without notice for any violations of the published relationship policy.
Captain
Are you an experienced dive boat Captain interested in working in Baja California, Mexico? We run some of the hottest big animal diving trips in the world including great white sharks at Guadalupe Island and giant mantas, dolphins and 10 kinds of sharks at Socorro Island. Safety is #1 on our ships followed closely by a commitment to excellence in guest services. We operate a 272 GRT 116 foot ship and a new 490 GRT 140 footer. Our ships are top notch SOLAS standard with full ISM, GMDSS and ISPS certification.
Minimum requirements
500 ton SCTW near coastal Master certification as well as current medical, SSO and GOC and advance marine first aid cert's. Scheduled rotations. Ship handling and decision making on running safe dive operations are a must but it's equally important that you can convince us of your buy in to standardized policies, processes and procedures and are comfortable managing a crew of 10.

Engineer
Do you have natural mechanical aptitude? Are you curious about all things mechanical? Does the idea of working on a large liveaboard diveboat in Baja California, Mexico appeal to you? We are looking for self-starter engineering types who can deliver measurable results including clean and organized mechanical spaces and paperwork. Our trips are 6 - 12 days at sea and you must have the self-confidence to be able to either fix problems or search online for answers or reach out to other staff in the company. Not being able to pump air for our divers is not an option for example. Nor is skipping required maintenance checklist items. This is a terrific opportunity for a keen younger person who wants to make a reputation for themself as they works their way up in the industry. It's a really nice team - family - onboard. This job is well suited to someone interested in working on smaller ships. One of our vessels is 272 GRT and the other ship is 490 GRT built to SOLAS standards.
Minimum requirements
SCTC qualifications. MC 4 ok. Current medical and advanced marine first aid. Ideal candidate will be familiar with scuba diving and comfortable operating 25 foot RHiBs.
Mate
Current Opening for a keen, enthusiastic, smart and hard working mate to work on our beautiful dive boats. Please reread the preceding sentence! Working as a mate on a liveaboard dive boat is not an easy job. You need to be diligent in your work. Keen to learn. Disciplined. The days are long and you will have to work hard. It's vital that you buy in to standardized policies, processes and procedures. The upside is that you will experience some of the most beautiful and impressive big animal diving in the world. We operate a 272 GRT 116 foot ship and a new 490 GRT 140 footer operating in the beautiful blue water off Baja California, Mexico.
Minimum requirements
500 ton SCTW mate certification as well as current medical, SSO and GOC and advanced marine first aid cert's. Scheduled rotations.

Hostess
Excellence in guest services is a cornerstone of our business and the successful candidate must be truly sincere in wanting to look after our guests. Being nice and friendly simply to get good tips is not good enough on this ship. Being a neat freak will help!

Deck Hand
This is a great way to get started, build your seatime and show us your stuff. Job duties will involve a variety of basic shipboard duties.

Divemaster
We are seeking "true professional" Divemasters who have been in the business for a while and are charismatic, very experienced divers with an intuitive sense of how to look after people and how to keep things safe. We have an absolute, rock-solid commitment to excellence and that has to be a natural part of your nature as well. Multi-lingual candidates with business or hospitality experience will be favoured as will an interest in biology/zoology/natural history, skiff driving experience and familiarity with compressor operations.

Chef
We want someone who is passionate about food. As a chef you are responsible for cooking four meals a day (a continental pre-breakfast, breakfast, lunch, dinner) and preparing a snack. You must be able to buy and portion food for multi-day trips, and keep the pantry and galley kitchen organized. Previous food-service and kitchen experience is essential. You must be a hard-worker and a strong team player with a cheerful and caring personality.
